Sodding Adobe again. I went to edit an image with Photoshop and got an instant blue screen of death. This is unforgivable, no other software ever does this on a stable machine. What the hell kind of inept non-testing do they do, exactly? Utter shower. How often does Photoshop cause a BSOD, Martin?

Well, I can honestly say, hand on heart, that it's never happened to me and I've been using Photoshop for around 20 years. Here's where I teach you to suck eggs, granny, but you do remember that the vast majority of BSODs are caused by driver conflicts, so it's just as likely to be something Micro$haft, has slipped into the mix during one of their dodgy updates, or your video-drivers?

This is the Microsoft Store (Modern) version of Photoshop, all self-updating and stuff. I also use Spotify from the Store. Guess which one never gives me problems? It could be that trad Photoshop is more stable, but Adobe should do more testing before they release. Honestly, when I first bought a copy (the school has loads now), it wouldn't run at all if it had been closed less than 5 minutes previously. You had to wait!

Let me stop you at "Microsoft Store Version..." Joking apart, two pieces of software that I use, and that I was prompted to download new versions of from the MS Store, refused to work properly and so I ended up having to delete them and go back to their respective home pages. After re-downloading the new versions from their home pages they both worked perfectly. I wouldn't use the Store now unless it was absolutely necessary. I'm not saying it's all Micro$haft's fault, in your case, so much as it might not all be down to Adobe.

I've just bought a new (Cooler Master CK550) keyboard for the downstairs PC and thought I'd do the sensible thing and register it with the manufacturer. First problem - Serial number not recognised. Checked, double checked, still not recognised. The Cooler Master website suggested opening a support ticket. I had almost completed the ticket (I just had the image file of the serial to add) when I started getting notices telling me I was receiving emailed "replies" from Cooler Master. 35 support tickets later I managed to shut it down. At no time did I hit "Enter" or anything remotely like it but it just sat there issuing tickets until I killed the browser window. Obviously, I couldn't cancel the tickets myself, and I still hadn't managed to attach the image file. Fortunately, I was able to add the image file "after the fact" so I did that to the first and thirty-fifth ticket. While I was doing this I got another slew of emails telling me that my tickets were being cancelled. Here's where my experience changes. Michiel Bos(??) at Cooler Master Support cancelled 34 of my tickets, dealt with the one remaining ticket by manually adding my verified serial number to their database, and got straight back to me. Problem solved, in real time, and my keyboard is now fully registered. Full credit to their support guy, bugger-all to their ticketing software.

Nice fix and highly unusual for a vendor to recognise and sort their own issues out.
You would usually get a pretence of ignorance if you called them and no attempt to help in a useful manner.
I'm not using that helpdesk software (I hope)!

Amusingly similar to other experiences of shipping 'tracking' information, my DAC was at Shenzhen this morning. It was then picked up by DHL and arrived at Shenzhen. Then it was processed at Shenzhen and then it departed the facility at Shenzhen. It is now at Shenzhen. Or, possibly, it has time travelled as it is already at Shenzhen on Thursday 24th, too.

I hate power cuts. We had one in the wee small hours of this morning, consequently... My alarm clock setting was buggered, so I got up late, I actually slept until almost midday. Not a great start to the day, especially as the footy kicked off at 12:00. It fried Volumio and switched off my two Synology NAS drives, both of which, apparently, required soothing words as well as a "proper" restart rather than just switching back on again. Volumio has now been re-flashed, reloaded, and (after I realised it wasn't seeing the NAS because the bloody NAS was turned off by the power-cut - DOH!) is currently re-indexing 1.39TB of music files and if that job completes successfully I'll load up my custom config.txt Three of my Alexa-connected lamps have now stopped working. I'm just getting to those now, as music was far more important than lighting. I've also got to remember how to set the clock on the microwave, and the cooker.

What it is with these ignorant and rude parents who allow their kids to run amok?
We took Leo to a soft play park last weekend, and there are segregated areas specifically for up to 2's, up to 5's and 5 plus.
Leo was naturally playing in the up to 2's, and then a couple of boys who were at least 8 or 9 came bounding in, bouncing all over the place and even knocked over one of the other toddlers playing in the area.
I was pretty vocal about my frustration by saying quite loudly to Leo that he should keep away from the big boys, when I realised that one of the parents that had been leaning over the area on his phone was in fact the bigger boys parent.
WTAF. How do they get off allowing their kids to behave in that manner!!

Mum's on the phone, leaning on her shopping trolley, her toddler is running rampant, and mum is obviously quite annoyed at having to interrupt her phone conversation quite regularly to shout, " India! India! Stop that! Come here." in one of those "cut-glass" accents that can make your teeth itch. Not once did she actually bother to check if " India," who was, perhaps, three or four-years-old, was coming " here," which India obviously bloody wasn't. This continued all through her journey around the shop. We knew. Everyone could bloody hear her. God only knows how many years ago that was, probably fifteen, or twenty, but you can judge, perhaps, how annoying it was by the fact that I still remember the child's name. Talking of kids in supermarkets, or more honestly, parents in supermarkets - that mother who picks out a random stranger, points at him (it's always a man) and threatens the child with, "Stop it, or the man will make you wait outside," or once I even heard "...or the man will call the police." WTAF?

It is ridiculous how some children are brought up. Don't get me wrong, it is not my place to tell anyone how to bring up their children, but common decency and respect is missing and a lot of the time these days!
