I wanted to see them in 1987, but couldn't because I was working in the back of beyond, miles away from the nearest town of any note. Every single time they toured the UK since then, there was something that prevented me from seeing them. I owned tickets for gigs that I wasn't able to go to. I fell ill. I was out of the country. The list goes on. I was on holiday in the US. We were in Phoenix, Arizona. We saw a bill poster for the gig that night. We went to the venue hoping to buy tickets. None left. We got talking to someone who had a friend who had spare tickets. He gave him a call. His friend had just sold them five minutes before.
BUT......on Thursday night, we finally went to see the Pixies! They were bloody magnificent.

Yes, that's the one. I see that the performance they did the following night at T in The Park is currently on the iPlayer.

Difford & Tilbrook tonight - excellent as usual. Far greater than the sum of their parts though.

We were at the Fairport Convention Cropredy Festival this weekend. Don't mention the weather! The bill:
Thursday The Waterboys Steve Hackett - Genesis Extended Capercaillie Joe Broughton's Conservatoire Folk Ensemble Fairport Acoustic Convention
Friday The Australian Pink Floyd Show Chas & Dave The Wonder Stuff The Travelling Band Churchfitters Ben Folke Thomas Edwina Hayes Deborah Rose
Saturday Fairport Convention Al Stewart Marillion Cara Dillon Treetop Flyers Reg Meuross Blackbeard's Tea Party Richard Digance
Having just the other day told Gordon that I no longer find much to get excited about with Genesis, I have to say that Steve Hackett was utterly brilliant. I never thought I'd ever see a convincing live performance of 'Watcher of the Skies', for example, but he played it to astonishing effect. The show was so good that the guy standing beside me cried. A lot!

Hi Tim, Yes, I saw Edwina Hayes - not bad, but not blown away. Marillion were excellent, I really enjoyed their performance. And waddaya know? I recognised some of the songs!!!!! (Thanks to you) Other acts that were new to me that I liked were The Travelling Band, Ben Folke Thomas and Treetop Flyers. Churchfitters were interesting and quite fun.

Yeah, Ben is great, he plays regularly at my local(ish) venue in Winchester - did he tell any of his dreadful jokes? They are so bad they are funny! The best one is the penguin in the car joke . . . . I'm seeing The Travelling Band in a couple of weeks, I like them - TT Flyers are good too. Pleased about Marillion

Last year the middle day was headlined by a rather dainty lady folk warbler called Alex Cooper.
.......or something.

I like the fact that there's only one stage, so no dilemmas about who you see. There's only one bar, so everyone mingles together, performers and punters alike and it's priced reasonably. The thing you'd like best, Mike is that everyone seems to take their dogs!!

One stage is best for me, must be for most. Loads of old geezers too I'm sure
I'm happy with *other* people's dogs in that situation. Unfortunately our 6 pack has teeth and attitude when out and about. Not good for them as they are all small to very small - but they don't realise it
