I've replaced the Volvo with a 2010 Honda CR-v EX 2.2 i-Dtec automatic. So far I'm liking it. I'm thinking of fitting tyre pressure monitors, there was discussion on here some while ago, but I can't find it.

Here you go. I have the Carchet system and it's very good. Well pleased with it.

I've just bagged a Scangauge II as my Christmas present to myself. This device plugs into the OBD socket and can provide hundreds of programmable readouts to supplement your standard gauges. I've been wanting an engine temperature gauge for a long time - why do modern cars not come with them any more? Boost would be good and battery voltage, too. It will also show fault codes and can clear them, too. I'm going outside to play later on

Don’t come with an oil dipstick either, so you are relying on a fallible sensor to tell you when the oil’s low..
Me no likey.

Gosh, I've not come across a car with no dipstick yet. What a bunch of . . . err . . . dipsticks!

You always knew how much oil was in the alfa when you had that Ali, it was all over the drive ;-)

The Scangauge is a fab bit of equipment, every petrol-head should have one!

We need more car talk! Here's the dyno result from my latest tune on the BRZ last Monday. For the uninitiated, the Subaru BRZ is the same car as the more popular Toyota GT86 (they're all made by Subaru). The design philosophy was a return to a simple lightweight rear wheel drive sports car with a great chassis and non-turbo engine. They are eminently tuneable which is one reason why I bought one. I wanted more torque because real-world driving is all about midrange flexibility, not outright power. For a flat four naturally aspirated engine, these are good figures. Blue was the previous (already good) tune, red the new one. The key mods are an unequal length exhaust manifold, over-pipe, full catback exhaust, intake pipe and K&N panel filter.

Oooooh Minding my own business cycling along. A black Merc sports like I have never seen went past. So very nice. Looked like a widened and updated Porsche 928 from the back, which was all I saw of it for not very long Think it was thisIf not what was it ? Would quite like one Santa

I've seen one (and its predecessor the SLS) once. The AMG GT I saw was in red and it did look good.
Not bad, especially for a marque I still associate with those who don't enjoy driving.

If so it could be (one of ?) the Mercedes made in Woking at Mclaren.

Boss man just drove me to a far off garage where my poop box 2005 Toyota Matrix was being worked on. I tried putting in a junkyard-new starter on my own yesterday, got it in, car wouldn't start, took it all apart again and put back the old starter.
Boss man paid the $400 bill for parts and labor.
We drive there in his 2017 sports Cadillac, something else. I'll try to get the name of it.
$8,000 worth if carbon fiber access to on the body. I've been felt this kind of G-force pushing me I to my seat. 640hp. 8 cylinder.

That's such a pain when the part is duff. I can only keep my Saab going with 2nd hand parts. Helps having Two Stroke to Turbo not so far away. (Biggest Saab breaker in Europe I think)
Have to confess no matter what car I had I still wouldn't use it that much. So I'll lust after the Merc and others but do most of my miles on the bike.

Amazes me how cheap cars can be.
Stepson sold his 07 Ford Focus to his sister last year. She is now selling it on for not a lot.
I had to move it out of the way. What a great little car for so little money
PM me if interested and anywhere near North West Surrey

I am so glad I put some decent winter tyres on my stock (spare) wheels. This morning in the 1°C conditions I could tell that I had vastly more grip than I had this time last year on my summer tyres. Also in the recent rain-fest.
My stock wheels are relatively narrow 7" (my summer wheels are 8") so I put 215/45 R17 Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen-2 tyres on them. Narrow is good for snow and they're very confidence inspiring in the wet. Haven't tried them in the snow yet but I stand a better chance of getting it home on my snow-prone country lane than my big fail last year.

That sounds good Martin. I had a very unnerving experience on Monday - had just started off driving home and my window was steamed up so couldn't properly see traffic at a junction. Put the window down but when it went back up it partly came out of its frame and nearly fell out the door! Yikes!!

I got myself a Hyundai IX20 SE NAV this week. The SAAB is just impractical in London, so for that I used the wife's Hyundai I20. But now that the school run has been replaced with the uni run, it's uneconomical to have two cars now. So I am selling the Saab and the I20. The IX20 has a very good boot size even though it doesn't look it from the outside. I now do the uni run to Cardiff a couple of times a year. So long distance comfort is important. One thing that helps is that the driver seat has a handrest. The reversing camera is also a great aid for parking in my street. It's bumper to bumper here. More cars than parking space.

I'm going to replace our lovely old Civic in the New Year. It will soon need a new clutch and tyres but more importantly with the new CO2 rules for inner London it will soon cost too much money to run.
Interesting to see different approaches to customer service by car dealers. Within an hour of requesting a test drive of the new Civic via Honda's website, I was phoned to arrange a time. Skoda however not quite on the ball. We went to a dealer last Sunday where all the sales agents were busy so the receptionist took down our details to arrange the test drive we wanted. Not heard from them since ...
