They don't come much rarer than this! Produced in 1973 and Pioneers top of the range japan only model, costing at the time a whopping 83,000 yen (i'll let you do the price conversion). I would guess this is the only working one in the country. Veneered in Rio Rosewood which has taken on a lovely mellow colour this direct drive looks and sounds quality! The turntable is in extremely good condition and comes with original lid which has a large break to the side, its a clean break and will glue back fine,i didn't use it with the lid so it never bothered me. Being a japan only model it comes with an airlink step down transformer. It has recently been serviced and has been given a clean bill of heath. This is a very reluctant sale,i may change my mind. In an email converstion with hifido in japan the guy i spoke to said he'd worked there 30 yrs and never seen one! With that in mind the price is £800. It is nice. For the benefit of any potential buyer, what is the armboard made of and what arm is it drilled for?

the original is made of plywood which i still have, the one in the photos is made of panzerholz and is drilled for a linn fitment tonearm,ie 211mm mounting distance. the panzerholz made a big difference to the sonics

I wonder how it compares sonically to the PL-71...

it has a better motor i believe, think of it as a pl-71 on steroids. sonically it was much better than my 87 model lp12,if i didn't own a n elite rock 2 this wouldn't be for sale.

I would be biting your hand off if I hadn't invested so much time and money in the Technics.

You have an FR arm I think, Jules? Would be a great match for this type of deck.
