It seems that Spotify are changing the method of delivery of their service, and one of the casualties is Squeezebox support. As of 20th July Spotify will not play on Squeezeboxes. I have just cancelled my subscription - there's no point in paying for a service that won't integrate with my server. www.mysqueezebox.com/byeByeSpotifyBastards!

Build a Rasberry Pi, like I am going to when I get time (already have the bits kindly donated by Martin and Chris) as it is considered better than the Squeezeboxes and will still run Spotify, win win.

Nice idea Paul, but that's not the issue. If I were to build a Pi player then I'd have to stick something on it that doesn't integrate with LMS, which I'm loathe to do. My moan is that a service provider has wilfully just cut off users because it can. The code writers for LMS (and don't forget that it's freeware, and they write the code because they want to for the benefit of a community, not because they get paid) can cope with many different changes to delivery of service, but Spotify have effectively stopped playing and have taken their ball with them.

Agree with your point Chris, was just suggesting an alternative way to you keeping Spotify.

There are some top folk inhabiting the Slim Devices forum - I'm followig the breadcrumbs at the minute, but there might be a work around solution.

I'm running another LMS server, because my NAS cannot run the appropriate script to make the Spotty app work. And I'm pleased to report back that the Spotty app does very well indeed. Looks like I'm going to be playing with a Pi sooner, rather than later, but I'll be using the Pi for serving duties only.

Have there been any more developments on this in the last few days, Chris?

Nothing yet. The second server is still working fine with the Spotty app. Both Squeezeboxes are logged into the second server, so at some point I'll disable the server running on the NAS. I'll get round to sorting the Pi thing before too long, but it's not a burning issue at the moment.
