Not a hugely committed fan, but came across them doing a digipak search on eBay, and found them cheapish.
Wondered if there was much to chose between them.

The present packages are good [The one on Floyd Music label] The older ones Discovery no thanks.
As a side note the big box set that came out a bit back, i think ive seen them now sold in separate packages..

What's wrong with the Discovery issue? Got to be better than the original jewel case issue. DDTM is only £5 from Germany. A top Mr Whippy VFMQ 🍦🍦🍦rating.

I picked up a few of the Discovery edition digipak CD's on special offer in HMV a while back and they sound just fine to me. As Chris alluded to in his post, these new Pink Floyd Music reissues just seem to have been repacked with a nod at the original LP artwork... and mighty fine they look too. However, the music itself are the 2011 remasters.

I was referring to the packaging. Was no 'Relics' in the 'Discovery set either. There is with the present sets, The original Mason Black & White art.

Won DSTM 2016 Version for £7.50.
Not quite the bargain I was looking for. But OK.
I was just thinking about Relics before. One of my favourites.

Thing is i personally think Digipack are horrid cheap things imho. If you want something that is quality & resembles a Vinyl record you must buy Japanese card sleeves.
I still have a complete set of Floyd Japanese 2001 Card sleeves which are the best in every respect that i have bought in CD format. I don't play them at all but i would never sell.. You had to be very very careful with these tho, as there was bootlegs of them. Bought mine directly from a reputable Japanese seller. 'Relics' is also in the set. What i loved about the Japanese Card CD's was the were true to the original British 1st issue vinyl sleeves & details. No silly bonus tracks. Sound Quality is second to none. Well worth the extra outlay.

Don't have a problem with the Digipak issue, Andre. When CDs came into being I thought the jewel case was an abomination. When The Beatles' titles came out in '88 - they looked terribly basic, and rather nasty, to my mind. The Mono Remasters were how they should have been. The stereo digipak versions were a bit disappointing, but vastly preferable to the jewel case. I got the EP Collection Box Set. This too had card sleeves of the originals, but there was no care taken with the scans used. Wasn't enamored with the sound of them, either. The Japanese card issues are just too expensive, for me. Having said that, considering Steve Winwood's first solo album, which is about £25. Great album.

I recognise that Photo Red back drop, Its a seller called neco_kick, a lagit seller that i bought a lot of them from. Those CD's arejust over twice the price of ours but far superior imho..At the end of the day they are a collectors thang.

Collector? Nah.
Going back to the Beatles, the American 50th Anniversary issues are nicely done. You also get both mono & stereo mixes. They also sound better than the UK versions, according to some.

Mr Whippy... if you're still looking for anymore of the 2011 remixed Floyd on CD, having just picked up all of the latest post DSotM Pink Floyd Records reissues, I now have 2 or 3 of the Discovery editions available. I'm fairly sure I have The Wall, Momentary Lapse of Reason and Wish You Were Here if you're interested? I can double check when I get home.
Also, has anybody compared the original Delicate Sound of Thunder 2xCD with the latest reissue?

Thanks. But think I might just look for The Wall on vinyl.
Is Relics on CD in mono? Or that dodgy "Electronically created stereo"?

Got this, new, for £4.70. Amazon had them for £7 last year. Haven't looked to see how much they are now. You get an original paper liner copy and a poly one. The stereo mixes aren't the original ones with the reverb, sounding like you were listening under water. Don't know why the UK version couldn't have been like this.

Well, the Matrix and the Mould SID identifiers are correct.
What I really meant with Relics, was, have the tracks originally recorded in mono and electronically created to stereo, gone back to mono with remastering?
