It drives your MBL's Jerry??
It looks cute, how does it compare to the Virtue Audio amps you had a while ago?

Martin ---
Yes, I've had several class D amps well into the hundreds of Watts and I don't think they were significantly better than my 35 watter in terms of scale. Strange. Must be a power supply thing? - maybe a big Jeff Rowland class D amp would fill the need?

Different sound to the Virtue Audio, Andy. I found the VA rather disappointing. Too smooth for me. The Marantz is way faster and more detailed. Much more to my taste.

Going back to class D after a couple of years away from it felt like coming home. I just like the sound of class D, and done well it is quite exceptional to my ears.

Jerry, you are correct Class D, tripath can sound sublime- and it is the future.

Just curious, Jerry, but have you tried one of these with your amp? Marantz HD DAC1

No. It's not a good match visually, the DAC is much smaller than the amp and they look odd together to my eye.
Very happy with the choice of 3 DACs I have to hand!

Sorry, my mistake. I thought they were a "pair."

I can't find a pic with black gear, but this doesn't really work for me ...

Point well and truly taken, Jerry. I couldn't live with that either.

They look like they were designed by Captain Nemo

I like the Nemo-esque design but the size disparity is really incongruous.

That's the Relentless. d'Agostino also makes these. Not to my taste at all.

I've just had a 'forum friend' round - so tidied the old place up a bit. Good time to take some pics of the current setup! Marantz HD-AMP1, Audiobyte Black Dragon DAC, Arcam DV137 CD transport & DVD player, Sony JB 930 minidisc player ... And the 'listening side' of the room ...

I think it's great the way you've managed to fit a listening room inside your hi-fi shop, Jerry.

Astonishing and incomprehensible though it may seem, Mike, I think there is such a thing as too much black.
