25 years, has it really been that long?
He remains as political as ever but I do look forward to it.

I'm an old cynic - it'll probably be rubbish...

It can't be rubbish because we had to wait 25 years for it!

Since watching the Sky Arts programme on Pink Floyd last night, I've gone off him!
He came across as a petulant, egotistical, killjoy, who was apparently so shocked that Gilmour and Mason (he had already sacked Rick Wright from the band because he didn't think he contributed much!!!!!!!!!) would carry on without him, that he attempted to block their use of the name, songs and imagery by every legal move possible!
Okay. If he was unhappy that Pink Floyd's live concerts and ground-breaking light shows and stage set pieces were upstaging his lyrics and the message he wanted to get across to audiences, then he could have withdrawn amicably and gone his own way.
Instead, he let jealousy get the better of him and sought to rob us of the the many great albums and tours that would follow his departure.

He certainly was a git, probably still is. Talented git for sure. Atom heart Mother was mostly him and Ron Geesin, my favourite Floyd album. My attitude mellowed when I found out his dad died before he was born

I just like his music; the politics and tormented whining I can ignore.
As people, Gilmour seems to be a much nicer man. Not his ignorant son, though.

Deja Vu sounds very much like Amused to Death-not a bad thing, it's a great album. Hope the new one has got a few cheerful songs on it though.

That's better. I didn't like Amused to Death as much as Pros and Cons and KAOS, anyway.
Waters can turn a great tune if he just backs off the politics a little. I'll be buying this.

Agreed Martin... LP on re-order and I'm just waiting to see if it'll be available as 24/96 or 24/192 flac files...

It's reviewed in this month's Mojo magazine - it got 3 stars and left the reviewer feeling a little short changed.

I've been looking forward to this, especially with the 2 x LP sat waiting for me when I got home tonight... I'd deliberately steered clear of pre-release reviews, choosing only to listening to the official YouTube samplers and the whole piece when it arrived.
First listen... well, it has all the hallmarks of a Waters record, so its not going to extol the virtues of sweetness, light and happiness. Its dark, broody, pessimistic and melancholic. It touches on old Waters favourites, including war, misery, greed, injustice, God and anger with politicians. Perhaps it could be considered a touch formulaic. As with his previous releases, radio samples punctuate in or between tracks, but It this works for me and it ticks all the boxes. Sure Waters can't sing anymore, but that doesn't really matter here and probably isn't the point. Its simply about getting the message across. He's never been afraid to stand up for what he thinks is right, speaking his mind with uncomfortable candour... and the message here is beautifully conveyed...
Oh, and its beautifully recorded too, with the 2 x 180g slabs of vinyl sounding sublime...

I'm an old cynic - it'll probably be rubbish... My cynicism was justifed - I started listening last night and only got half way through before I got bored and gave up. Also on my system, the ripped CD sounds very bass heavy and the voice very recessed (though maybe it's supposed to be like that ?) I'll listen to the rest sometime, but not hopeful...
