.....For Malcolm Steward: A huge influence on myself and many hifi and music enthusiasts, Malcolm had a stroke at the wheel of his car some time ago and was thus involved in a major accident. Not much has been said about this tragedy but my thoughts have often returned to him. I had hoped for some positive news and regularly searched for some. Today I was saddened to hear that Malcolm is not faring well and is now a victim of our crumbling health and social services. www.theguardian.com/society/2017/feb/19/doctors-condemn-delay-in-brain-damage-mans-move-to-care-home-bed-shortages-in-intensive-carePlease spare a thougt for Malcolm. If anyone has any ideas as to how the hifi community can help, then please feel free to share. On a personal note I was immensely proud to be able to own the SBLs that Malcolm wrote about in his reviews and regular columns. They had been stored in his summer house and needed a total strip down and refurb, including refinishing and powder coating. I had to sell them before I left the UK, but I'm proud to have owned the speakers that lit my enthusiasm so brightly when described so richly by Malcolm. I sincerely hope he is able to be able to have a quality of life which he has worked for and deserves.

I didn't know anything about it. Despite his obvious love of Naim products, I did enjoy his writings, he seemed to really enjoy and show enthusiasm for musical reproduction. His articles in Hi-Fi Critic were always a good read.
I hope he recovers sufficiently enough to be able to enjoy music and life again.

I likewise wasn't aware, and I am sorry to hear about his terrible situation.
Having read a number of his reviews over the years, I was always impressed with his approach, even if, like Martin says he was somewhat biased towards Naim.
Hopefully he will make a speedy recovery.

If any members of other forums would care to raise awareness of this elsewhere, maybe some momentum and/or ideas can be generated to help in some way.

It is really sad news. I can picture him clear as day from 30 years ago in The Audiophile. It must be such a stressful time for his wife and any family they might have.

Bad news. I hope this turns out well for him and his family. I remember Malcolm Steward more for his record reviews than for what he wrote about hi-fi. He put me onto some absolutely superb albums which I still play today.
