I always found Mike to be quite shy and as the factory was close to my place of work, we saw a fair bit of him in the early days. back then at the start, the NAD 3020 ruled supreme and he was concerned the 4040 may not get a fair hearing, especially in our London store. I basically advised him to go in there and *sell* it to them. He did, had proper two-way dialogue with the staff (I'm sure this went on in other stores too to be fair), did a substantial tweak to the design which simplified it all down beneficially and sales took off - lovely little amp.

Going back to your original post.
If you are anywhere near Surrey come over with daughter some time to hear how good a CD can sound, yes even drums and percussion.
Very little difference now in my system between vinyl and .CD

I agree. For me, CD is mature and great sounding technology. It completely depends on the recording quality, so format becomes a non-issue.
