I'm asking in terms of your system, listening room and also life, as the three seem inter-related to me.
I'll go first to kick things off. Right now I'm happy to have no firm answers to this question. Hifi is taking a complete back seat until Winter and even then I'm unsure it will be viable out here. There is a possibility in coming years of having a UK (or other) place that I can follow my hobby, but that's all it is right now. i love where I'm living right now and I don't miss hifi enough to change that.
Assuming I do achieve a suitable listening space, I guess the rest is pretty easy: Buy another Xerxes or PS-6750 or perhaps an Oracle. Another Perreaux or Duson Preamp and a KSA50 (not the "S" version). Pair with my Spicas and That's it. I will probably keep my Consonnace CD player unless I find something I like more.
Computer audio isnt isn't for me until and unless it becomes a pleasure to use. Linking a DAC up to a laptop was OK but the sound with lossless was inferior to even CD. It was also a less enjoyable experience in terms of use, so I doubt I will go thee again unless I'm. Forced to.
On a non-hifi note, I plan to be in great physical shape and eating only healthy foods. I place this above all else and won't sacrifice it for anything else.

One thing I've noticed in my life is that I simply have NO idea what's around the next corner. ANYTHING could happen.
Like singularity I aim to maintain my health and eat well as best I can but that's about the only certainty!

I have purposely sold everything & bought a early 70's [Mostly Japanese] seperates system. Nothing will change now.

Assuming the Grim Reaper maintains his distance and I stay in reasonable health, then I don't see much changing. I hope to have the same homes and listening rooms, being very happy with what I have. I hope my MBL speakers in my main system will continue to be serviceable. Other than that I suspect all components in my 2 systems will change several times over the course of 5 years! So, if my life and hifi systems stayed in the current mode of being then I would be very happy. -- although I live in hope that I have the courage and commitment to get rid of the bloody vinyl and tt rigs and not to just buy another setup 6 months later, as has happened several times in the past!

Going through something of a life change at the moment, I hope to settle down to 5 years of tweaking and collection building. Having a dedicated room for music is a luxury that I'll have finally attained and I feel very lucky. I hope that I can maintain my health (a bit of a stretch for me) and continue to discover new music to enjoy. I also want to continue going to concerts to enjoy the live experience.

It was also a less enjoyable experience in terms of use, so I doubt I will go thee again unless I'm. Forced to. Computer audio is very easy to set up on a superficial level (ie you get a sound), but requires proper setup with respect to having appropriate drivers for the hardware used. Making sure that your CDs are ripped securely (ie bit perfect) is also of benefit. As with most things in life, the more effort you put in the more you get out of it. I do not hear a difference between playing CDs or ripped files in my system.

Hmm. We have reflected on this a lot - and we made our move to France to make a major life change and stop waiting for tomorrow*** Yesterday I learned my sister's boyfriend Graham - who is my age - has been diagnosed with lung cancer which has spread to the lymph nodes, and may have as little as 12 weeks to live. As if I needed a reminder to live my life while I can So - intend to organise my time progressively for less work and more leisure. Try to walk the dogs in the mountains every day for the exercise, and the chance to enjoy the beauty. Eat healthily, drink less, and exercise more (including maybe join a yoga class). I hope to play guitar a bit more, and ski and play with boats on the coast. And spend more time sharing life with Sue in the setting we both find so beautiful. It's a hifi forum, so fair enough Listening room - I am really happy to finally have a good sized , good sounding listening room, in a detached house, in which I can reasonably put the speakers where I think they are best - so decorating to repair the recent damage mostly System - "tidy" the PT (Lid maybe, top-plate certainly), service the Quads (initially try an install of 4 new dust covers from a somewhat dubious kit. Eventually either ship to Germany for a full service, or if he moves out here - service myself with Owens help). Get the Pi working again, hopefully find the interfaces have improved, organise some file based audio instead of the random chaos I have now (this may be a classic "tomorrow"*** job) and buy some more LP's of the quality of the excellent DeAgostini jazz LP's I recently acquired (maybe explore their back catalogue) *** like the guy who named his castrated cat "tomorrow" - because "tomorrow never comes"

As Jerry said, the Grim Reaper calls all the shots. However, living in fear of that would be a mistake. Take something good from every day on this Earth and die with no regrets.

I have no long term plan.
I take each day as it comes, and enjoy it for what it is.
I have a feeling that things will change (for the better) and that where I am in 5 years will be different, and an improvement on now.

Being a pagan, I will be in a cardboard box with a tree planted on top of me.

Short term I quite fancy an electric car. We don't do long journeys and if there was a 30min charge at service stations that would solve that. I'll give it 5 years and see. Blowing noisy muscle cars off at the lights is right up my street. The 7 was great for embarrassing most thing, moved on from that though. Longer term we'd like a pad in Sweden for their summers and one in southern Spain. Being married to an EU citizen might enable us to foil the worst the hard brexiteers can throw at us

I'm already on a hybrid and I can see myself going electric eventually. The problem is range and the thought of being stranded without an AA (battery) in sight.
Thing is, I may just want another brute force coupe* before I buy a hat and settle down to sedate driving.
*maybe a Subaru BRZ with supercharger upgrade.

I read a report on them. Probably a nice car to drive, quick enough in standard form, and quicker with "upgraded supercharger".
BUT, it's NOT what I would consider "brute force".
I might start another topic on this idea.

My previous remapped BMW 335d M-Sport twin-turbo coupe was quite brute force. The eye-catching number was 740nm torque. More than many Ferraris can manage.
