Thanks for the info. The CD player is currently sat on SDS Isofeet. I realise I forgot that information. Would the EB rollers or Black Ravoili be a worthwhile upgrade?
I have seen the Lampozator upgrade, but not plucked up the courage to try it. I am still on the look out for a PD-S505 Precision as I think this would be a bit better.

The Isofeet quite good but awhile back Mike, Martin and myself did a test. The Rock n rollers beat a lot of feet and the black ravaloli was the best supports in the group I do think you can get more out of your source by either an internal upgrade or better CD player While not speak to Steve (electricbeach) about his system. It always suprises me just how good it sounds when I visit

I have not really focused on a CD player upgrade, as I have mostly been listening to Vinyl. I have an Arcam Alpha 7SE CD player as well, but I think the Pioneer is better.
What would be a good CD player to go for? I was half tempted by a Pro-ject CD box RS transport feeds ng the Caiman.

The caiman off battery is a good solution Personally if you prefer vinyl ask Tony at Coherant to try out the black ravioli for your amps No need to throw money on the cd player

Possibly the Cambridge CXC transport - I've heard it's rather good ... www.cambridgeaudio.com/products/cx/cxc

I'd stick with the CD player and Caiman. Upgrade the Caiman if you haven't and give it a battery PSU

When I say it does not have the upgrade, I mean it has. It had the new components installed. It has had the software update.

If its not a big hassle to remove and transport it, I would be interested to hear the Caiman...

I sent Lintone Audio a message on eBay Saturday morning about the Black Ravioli asking how long I would have to return it, as it could take up to a week to arrive, and they have not bothered to respond. I won't be using them.

I had my Pioneer S703 modified with the Trichord Clock 2 upgrade, damped the chassis, Trichord digital link added to an SP/DIF output.... The difference wasn't as great as I'd hyped hoped. Conversely, the Mark Grant MG1000HD interconnects were a milestone discovery for me. While all other interconnects I've tried present more obvious detail, these give substance and body to the sound (like vinyl) that has become a fundamental element for me in making digital replay more natural and less HiFi.
I tried replacing the glass shelves in my target racks with double thickness safety laminated glass, which was better, but I never looked back after replacing the glass completely with wooden ply shelves.
John has brought his Caiman to me several times and I've always been impressed by how it showed the tonal character of different instruments every time. I think this quality is undermined by the emphasis that glass resonance brings, a trait that doesn't do digital replay any favours in my experience.
It's also worth experimenting with some damping in the area behind those speakers.

While I remember....
The Pioneer CD has a captive mains lead of course. I remembered yesterday when one of them stopped working and I converted my last one to a female IEC with an MCRU Ultimate driving it. Great sound improvment
