Take a punt on eBay.
You can always put it back on, which was my thought before I had heard one

There is probably a limited market for this type of thing here in France.

There is probably a limited market for this type of thing here in France. Doubt it, there are quite a few decent French Hifi companies out there and I am sure you'll find companies that make cables too. Seriously Wonky, I'd even recommend buying a cheap but non-stock cable to start you off, the difference cables makes is quite remarkable

As pointed out to me by a fellow ex-pat, I wonder how much of a difference can be put down to the different wiring schemes between France and the U.K.
I have no fuses in my plugs. I have radial circuits and not ring mains.
This could have an impact on any possible improvement.

Different system and different ears too Kevin, so you'll never know unless you try it for yourself.

True. I just need a way of doing this that won't cost me a fortune ifit makes no difference.

I have radial circuits and not ring mains. This could have an impact on any possible improvement. How much? None. The different wiring in the wall won't impact what the bit of wire on the last leg does. Quick simple inexpensive demo on the fuse fairies. Get yourself an English plug for a piece of equipment. Get an english mains block (I can lend you one if you have none left) and put a shuko on the lead. Replace the fuse in your english plug with a nail. Listen to the difference. Reflect on how much further you want to pursue this idea. Replace the nail with clean copper tube (la belle france and its bonkers plumbing offers plenty of opportunities). Replace the whole flaky mains disaster of extension block and UK plug with a direct shuko again. Clean any of the connections as much as you like with whatever you like. Invest wisely!

PS - Wonky When you come over I have 2 MCRU mains leads you can borrow. Fit with Shuko's (obviously after scrupulous cleaning of bare wires and connections). Report back. If the report is they make a difference - invite me for dinner

You are at an advantage not having fuses !
(Edit later)
Having a Schuko plug and not having fuses in the *plug*. Internal fuses have to stay of course

Equipment often has internal mains fuses. There's no getting away from them unless you sacrifice safety.

Defo, wouldn't compromise that mate. Just saying the fewer fuses the better. It's a nice upgrade when you rid you mains supply of fuses.

I agree. Upgrading them is the next best thing for small improvements in SQ.

I know you got good speakers and presume the fire bottle amp is very good
What is the source
Also what support are you using
I would address this first before the fuses

The best fuses I know are SR Red, but they're not cheap. See here for the discussion.

What fuses would you recommend? Brico depot "clou macon" - but only in a UK plug, being used in France. Not for equipment fuses

This is all fed through the Firebottle KIN preamp and AIR power amp. Most of it is sat on a glass shelved Target audio rack.

My Pioneer PD-S703 responds well to a good mains cable as does the Chord Integrated amp with it

I would think about doing something like this first to the CD player lampizator.eu/LAMPIZATOR/REFERENCES/Pioneer_703/pioneer703.htmlAnd I would use the Electric Beach Rock and Rollers or if you can afford the Black Ravoli first. I think this will give your system a better foundation the fuses probably make a difference but think having good isolation on a glass shelf is a no brainer
