Here is an update on my SL1200 Mk2. It now sits on a proper wall shelf, and is fully "Funkified" with the Spin bearing, Strata platter, Achromat, Bo!ng feet and the FX-1200 arm. Other mods include the LDA external PSU, strobe and pitch slider disabled. It's pretty much finished now. It's fitted with a Audio Silente 4mm HDG spacer and an AT33PTG/II which I have loaded at 175 ohms and it sounds pretty good to me. I still hanker after a different type of deck, but my limited funds for what I would like means that will have to wait quite some time, if it ever happens. I'm not surprised you don't have any funds left.

That has more to do with a 14 month old addition to the family.

Especially 'little' cartridges that grow into full-blown 'teen' cartridges

Don't forget the audiophile red rubber band parking device clip! Sprayed with pixie dust as well.

I don't get the whole vinyl thing at all, the kit looks good but never had a TT in my system. Someone would have to lend me one so I could see what all the fuss is about. Are you sure you old men aren't just over romantics?

Are you sure you old men aren't just over romantics? You have to give it a go James and have some patience with the format. I've never been a huge fan (this is my third attempt to embrace the format) but this time I've invested in a sub £500 record cleaner, so I'm beginning to realise what the fuss is all about. Playing new vinyl, freshly cleaned, has given me as big a wow moment as I've ever experienced with my love of music. Sure, second-hand vinyl is a bit more of a challenge, as is working out how some dealers/sellers grade it, but if you manage to persevere, the rewards are well worth the effort... and that's from a long time vinyl non-believer

Are you sure you old men aren't just over romantics? Playing a good record on a top turntable can be very rewarding indeed. I was playing Yello's Flag LP the other day and the CD can't touch it for spine tingling vividness.

There is a AOS forum member , tinturkey, who lives close to me. He has a blinged up LP12 I think, I'm sure he would be happy to lend it to me to take for.a spin. I'll have to give it a go.

If I could afford any deck in the world, the Vertere would be it. If you could put some pics up, I for one would love to see them

My "number 2" turntable is a Yamaha YP-D7 direct drive. It must be a "foreign" model because it's 100v.
I made an adapter using a 100v transformer.
This is a photo, not actually mine but same as.
Mine is slightly "tatty", but it was very inexpensive.
