Since the Proboards software is American, we have had to install a new plug in that introduces a built in delay which enables Donald Trump to ensure that there is no 'fake news' posted on the site. That's odd because your post came through immediately

No site changes and all seems to be speedy again this morning. I've cleared the cache and it seems to be OK on a different pc, so it was probably just a local issue at my end. Flash player is pants.

Use a browser like Edge that ignores Flash (the Adobe add-in, I mean). The sooner it dies the better, most sites have/are moving over to HTML5.

It's only available in Windows 10 (shame as it's an excellent browser).

Shame you missed the one year free upgrade period, Lawrence. It's still worth paying to upgrade from the steaming pile of poo that was Vista.

Shame you missed the one year free upgrade period, Lawrence. It's still worth paying to upgrade from the steaming pile of poo that was Vista. Vista is very stable for me and always has been. I realise that it wasn't when it was released for some people, but SP2 seemed to sort out a lot of the issues. I still use XP on my netbook and that also works fine. I don't run a network or do anything particularly adventurous, the main issue will be the end of security fixes in April. I can get a clean version of W10 for about £25 but I have no desire to put myself through un-necessary stress. If it ain't broke - don't fix it.

When we evaluated it (at RTM and then SP1) we decided it wasn't fit for rollout and skipped it entirely, migrating from XP direct to W7.
The big issue is not just security updates but the fact there are so many holes in Vista and W7. In fact, Microsoft recently declared that W7 should no longer be used for new business rollouts. So, in spite of your mantra (with which I usually agree), it could be said that Vista and W7 are inherently broke because of the new malware landscape.

It always amuses and dismays me in equal measure that nothing is broken and/or dangerous until Micro$oft (OK, not just them, but...) have a new product to sell that replaces it.

I'm afraid that the current frenzy of creative geniuses who make some very nasty malware are quite platform agnostic. If you are running MacOS, do not think for a minute that you are any safer! I've seen some horrible outbreaks of late.

That looks like a bit of malware you've picked up which hijacks your browser via Google ads and nothing to do with this site. Try clearing your browser cache and your cookies. There are instructions on how to do that here if you're not sure how.

Not of our doing, unless it's a ProBoards ad.

Nasty if it's hijacking Chrome for iOS.

Not of our doing, unless it's a ProBoards ad. It is indeed. Naughty ad. It puts me off Uber

I get something like this with both my iPhone and Android phone. Strangely it's only this forum. I get rid of the offending page by deleting the tab. I hit the issue only with the mobile version of the site; an advert is at the bottom of the screen, if I swipe it by accident when scrolling this is when it takes over the tab. If I kill the tab it's then fine., it doesn't seem to leave malware behind.

For mobile use I recommend Tapatalk. No ad problems at all.
