I think she's got a great voice and good emotive delivery. I like some of her songs a lot and think Skyfall one of the great Bond songs. I was shocked to see that Skyfall was voted best Bong song - just don't see how it compares to the best of 60's and 70's Bond songs ... I even preferred last year's Sam Smith song.

…I have inherited FLACs of her first two albums - can't bear them At times, life's a real Bastard - isn't it? Or in your case, Dave, a complete and utter Bastard.

A bunch of old farts don't get Adele. What a surprise? TAS is always good for a laugh.

A bunch of old farts don't get Adele. What a surprise? TAS is always good for a laugh. I don't think it's a case of having to "get" her. There's nothing to "get". In the main we just don't like the awful noise she makes. As simple as that

[…BTW Skyfall was recently voted best ever Bond song by a TV audience and have to admit it is up there with a couple of Bassey numbers. Haddaway & Shite! My solicitors will be in touch in due course. Doesn't say much for the tv audience, to my mind. Doesn't compare to the classics from John Barry. Stop, for a moment, and just listen to You Only Live Twice, and how it is structured, right from the very opening few bars. These are probably my favourites: You Only Live Twice - Nancy S. Thunderball - Tommo License To Kill - Gladys K. If There Was A Man (The Living Daylights End Credits. Got it on 12"er. Oh yes…) - The Pretenders

Ditto. However, I am not unfamiliar with the realisation that my taste in music is out of step with the mass market. I never liked ABBA, Michael Jackson, Shalamar, Culture Club, David Essex, The Spice Girls....(shall I go on?). So what's the news here?

She's popular because she doesn't look like a pop princess and doesn't sound like a Christine Aguilera clone. In markets like the US most women can relate to her for obvious reasons. She's the anti-pop princess. Pop is vacuous and superficial.

Nancy Sinatra singing You Only Live Twice was a superb Bond song.

Think it's the space in the market she has
There's plenty of skinny dancing ninnies.
She's more the size of more normal people sings well enough with good enough songs. Nothing special - that suits a lot of the market. I think we will see Adele clones soon enough. Perhaps Madogga will put on weight
Ditto on Amy Whitehouse. I thought I was the only one that didn't get her either.

A word from SWMBO about Adele apparently she has suffered in her life, is a true, honest punter who writes about what has happened and connects with a lot of her public

as regards that amy whitehouse !! , i never liked her mother mary either !! , give me val doonican singing 'Delaney's Donkey anytime ?? Just imagine if that were her mother or even grandmother ! I think she was failed by the people around her. Sad to see anyone take their own life. Her music - not for me, 2nd division soul. Her voice ? ok, not outstanding to me

Here is a very good article that gives an analysis of Adele's success. www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-35152397Basically she has a great voice, good songs and does not rely on technology and gimmicks like other big names. Those who think her voice is crap wash your ears out. Winehouse had problems dealing with success and those around her didn't help. The recent documentary (now an album) deals with this well and outs her father basically as a parasite. Unfortunately she doted on him. Why was she sent on a tour when unfit to perform due to drinking? Still second biggest selling artist to Adele but must admit don't get the mega success of Back to Black.
