I don't see the logic is paying for mega expensive over engineered Enclosures that have nothing but basic CD player internals.

Revox C221Made for Revox by Studer, this player is designed for professional broadcast use. It has features which are obviously important to broadcasters but are best disabled for domestic use.

Now that's a nice looking pro device. How does it sound, Barry?

Thanks. Due to reasons you are aware of, I might have replied to that but I have been prevented from doing so. His loss.
I shall take a look later and report back here.

I shall take a look later and report back here. Copying your comments on the special features here.... Interesting. I have my Accuphase set so that it counts down track time rather than counting up, as I find it much more informative to know how much time there is left. This is because counting up is meaningless to me unless I already know the track length.

This MHZS CD88 player was remarkably good sounding for the £££ you can pick them up for. It had a valve output buffer, valves easily accessible beneath the panel rear-right. Came surprisingly close all round to a Consonance Droplet cdp at several times the price. Top loader with a cute magnetic puck. I kept it for quite a while. A fair bit of online controversy about this player as the maker lied about the chip used! - it sounded good regardless.

Where do MHZS come from?

I think it's the same Chinese factory that produces Consonance kit - there are a LOT of similarities!

That's a mighty handsome machine Chris - do you have any spare transports stashed away?

No, it's a common Sony one - plenty of those about. The thing I love about this player is that it has digital inputs, so I can squirt my humble little Rasp Pi and even the digital output from the TV into its DAC to amazing effect.

Well it's a DAC, but it's used with CDs as well as file-based audio:
