Ah, I see where you were going with the cosmetics there James - reverse psychology. That amp has just GOT to sound awesome with a beautiful personality! Kudos for taking that project on mate! Cheers Steve, she is a big old girl, and sounds lovely to me.

Accuphase 'used to' have a double-cream kind of colouration and I remember it well. Maybe they changed... Here's a pro MOS-FET amp rated at 100WPC into 8 ohms...

Accuphase 'used to' have a double-cream kind of colouration and I remember it well. Maybe they changed... A friend had a modern Accuphase CD player - that was certainly of the double cream variety! Another friend has a pair of vintage Accuphase M60 monoblock amps. My gosh they take no prisoners. Astonishingly vivid and controlled.

I enjoyed the Crown XLS1500, Roy, it stayed for quite a while. It didn't have the driving ability and ultimate control that the high power spec suggested, though. Not enough current delivery, I suspect.

And my current (and probably final) amp, an Accuphase E-406V. 170 watts of heaven. Now that is worth buying just for the VU meters!!

It's the logo that does it for me, in that soft turquoise colour. Class.
