Well I got as far as Idiot Bastard Son, but had to stop - if I manage to get to the end I'll score it, but I'm not playing it twice, life's too short . . . .

I really enjoyed the first tracks on Hot Rats - then the jazz set in.

Oh dear - looks like you are having the same success as I did with William Grant Still, Chris. Pah - TASers are just a bunch of know-nothings with poor musical taste. Ignore 'em.

I quite like the album - as a long time Zappa fan I'm familiar with the originals, and I like the interpretations of these pieces. My only criticisms are that this is a touch too reverential, and that there's a lack of bite and drive in general. It gets 8/10 from me.

I gave it another listen and reckon I was generous with 5/10. This one is a 'reverse grower' on me! It sounds quite like the incidental music to a comedy caper.

Well I have just finished the final 5 tracks and to be perfectly frank I wasn't looking forward to it.
Gotta be honest Chris, I would rather peace and quiet than play this, far too abstract and challenging - 3 minutes or so into Inca Roads sounded like Sooty and Sweep! I won't say I hated it as it's less annoying than Fairytale of New York, but I don't ever want to hear it again.
Sorry old bean 1/10
