If you think about it, stacking is the perfect solution because the footprint is the same whether it's one pair or three. So if I went for triple stacked LSTs and got rid of a pair of Genexxas, I would actually be reducing the speaker clutter by three whole pairs.

Holy camoly - triple stacked would be way cool! I like your thinking Chris ...

You'd better have some serious amplification lined up. Do NOT run that lot in parallel!

Oh my, oh my. 2 pairs of Batpure super tweeters firing forwards and backwards from positions close to the tweeters on bipolar speakers.....? Hmmm. This is rather good.
No. It's bloody excellent.
When I have the mounts completely finished, I shall tell more. They are functioning, but not pretty just now. Photos too, if you ask nicely!

I have spent the weekend messing about with Raspberry Pis. Three of them to be exact! We decided to put together a little system for the kitchen. I thought I'd use a Pi with a Beresford 7520 as a source firing into a little Mini-T amp and the modified Genexxa Pro LX5s for speakers.
This necessitated building a new, third Pi, so I took the opportunity to try out a HiFiBerry Digi+ Pro instead of the standard version. This new one would be connected to the main system in the living room and the old one will go into the kitchen and be connected to the network wirelessly.
The last of the bits arrived on Friday, so yesterday I set about putting it together and getting the latest version of Volumio. The upshot is all good. The new Pi 3/Digi+ Pro combo is a good bit better than the old Pi 2/Digi+ version, the new software seems to have improved sound quality too, so another lift there.
Earlier today, I spend some time putting the new Volumio onto the other two Pis. There was a very strange moment with one of them when at boot up, the music played fast. Fast like playing a 33rpm album at 45rpm! This was via a NAS or with Spotify. It turned out to be an error in the software, so once the problem was isolated, a quick format of the card and a new version did the job.
I can now build and configure Raspberry Pis in my sleep!
The new version of Volumio is superb and will make the journey of getting going with a Pi a much more simple task for anyone new to it and a bit nervous. Highly recommended.

After an extended spell of many months with the Radford at one end of the speaker cables, I've just plumbed in the mighty Levinson amps and, as always, they bring back that sense of power and control to the forefront of things. Treble detail is increased quite a bit over the Radford too. The little STA-15 has other strengths and is the equal of the MLs but in a different way - that's why I love them both.
This is the first time I have tried the MLs with the two pair of Taket Batpure super tweeters and it's all sounding rather stupendous!

It's solid state all the way for me too, Chris. I remember valves fondly but they always tail off at the bass and treble ends to a degree and lack that final ounce of authority. The Belles does for me what the MLs do for you and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Oh my, oh my. 2 pairs of Batpure super tweeters firing forwards and backwards from positions close to the tweeters on bipolar speakers.....? Hmmm. This is rather good. I was thinking of you and your Batpures while playing John Keating yesterday with a huge grin on my face. Please play this track and tell me how it sounds. For me, it's utterly glorious 1970s Moog nonsense with treble that will properly test your system.

This doesn't really belong in a system blog, but it's so personal to me that it doesn't seem right to put it anywhere else. Merlot's Last WalkIf you type Mirage M3-si into an internet search engine and look at a few of the results, sooner or later you will come across a picture taken in our living room of my Mirages flanking a couple of Levinson power amps with a little Brittany sitting beside one of the speakers. Merlot was with us for 13 years and he was descended from Brittany royalty - his father was best in breed at Crufts and his mother was a field trial champion, earning her living hunting with falcons. He has been a constant companion to the family all his life and I couldn't imagine a more faithful and better natured dog. He was suffering since March 2016 with a complaint to one of his legs, which earlier this year transpired to have skin cancer as an underlying complication. We weren't able to go through with the intrusive surgical options that are usually available in cases like his as there was also a developing heart condition. Through it all, he hasn't complained once - a tough little bugger 'til the last, but last week, we decided that his quality of life had reached the point where it was time to put a stop to his troubles. It's a day we have been dreading for a week now and it really hurts but we know we have done the right thing. So, today Merlot had his last walk, the longest one he has had for about 6 months, one that he thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish. Apart from his little T-shirt covering the dressing and wound on his leg, you wouldn't have thought there was anything wrong with him. Half an hour after this, I held his head in my hands and felt his last breath. Here he is, the little guy, in happier times. Rest easy little mate.

All sympathies from me Chris.
Thanks for sharing the story and posting these great pics. I can see why you were so attached to him.
I think Merlot was very astutely named - a most noble dog!
